Enjoying doing good works?

Maybe the third person is doing good things because it feels good to do them. It gives him a sense of pleasure, of fulfilment and (perhaps) he enjoys thinking of himself as a good and righteous person. If so, he is no better than the others because he is doing good works for immediate personal gain rather than on the promise of future gain. The question is, does the fact that he enjoys doing things for others make him a better or a worse person?
